CHANNELING
|
Channeling is a form of divination. It is similar to Automatic writing. The difference being that through
channeling, answers are spoken verbally, whereas with automatic writing answers are written by the one channeling.
To be an effective channeler, one must take several steps in training their mind. Lie down so that you are
comfortable and relax. You must remove all emotion from your mind. The biggest challenge to new channelers
is to clear their mind of all emotion. If you had a bad day, you must forget about it. If you had a good day,
you must clear that from your mind as well.
The first step in learning how to channel is channeling yourself. Focus on yourself and speak whatever is on your mind.
The next step, is channeling your higher-self, or your sub-conscience mind.
The third and final step, is contacting spirit guides who will speak through you.
Many channelers never progress to this step. This is where removing all emotion from your mind is critical
as to not interfere with the spirit.
Once contact is made, various formats may be followed in order to gather information from the spirit guide.
The channeler may decide to lecture, speaking on various topics. Or, he or she may take questions from an audience.
Sessions should always be taped so that they may be gone over later for review.

Origins:
Methods of communicating with the dead and other spirits have been documented back to early human history.
One of the most famous mediums of all time was the Witch of Endor. He raised the spirit of the deceased
prophet Samuel for the Hebrew King Saul. King Saul wished to question his former mentor about an upcoming battle,
as related in the First Book of Samuel in the Jewish Tanakh.
Time Line:
Mediumship became quite popular in the United States after the rise of Spiritualism as a religious movement
in the United States. Modern Spiritualism is said to date to the mediumistic activities of the Fox sisters
in New York state 1848. The trance mediums Paschal Beverly Randolph and Emma Hardinge Britten were among the
most celebrated lecturers and authors on the subject in the mid-1800s. Mediumship was also described by Allan
Kardec, who coined the term Spiritism, around 1860.
After the exposure of the fraudulent use of stage magic tricks by physical mediums such as the Davenport Brothers,
around 1875, mediumship fell into disrepute, although it never ceased being used by people whose religions include
the belief that the dead can be contacted.
From the 1930s through the 1990s physical mediumship became less often practiced in Spiritualist churches. The
technique of channelling gained in popularity. Books by channellers who wrote about non-corporeal and
non-terrestrial teacher-spirits often became best-sellers.
